Carlisle United are favoured by the bookmakers to pick up a sorely-needed victory at Newport County tonight.

Despite the Blues propping up the rest of the division, Newport's impressive form and Carlisle's winless record at Rodney Parade, the Cumbrians have the shorter winning odds this evening.

Mark Hughes' bottom-placed side, who have lost six of their last seven, are 5/4 for victory with Unibet, 11/8 with SpreadEx and 13/10 with SkyBet.

Newport, seeking a fourth straight win, are 39/20 with Unibet, 9/5 with SpreadEx and 7/4 with SkyBet.

The draw in south Wales is priced 12/5.

Cedwyn Scott and Joe Hugill have the shortest odds in the Carlisle squad when it comes to the scorer of tonight's first goal.

The strikers are both 13/2 to open the scoring against Nelson Jardim's 17th-placed Exiles.

Jordan Jones is 16/1 to get the first goal on his return from suspension.

Stephen Wearne is 10/1 and Kadeem Harris is 11/1, while longer shots in the visiting ranks include Callum Whelan at 14/1, Will Patching at 20/1, Ethan Robson at 22/1, Saturday's scorer Sam Lavelle at 28/1 and Josh Williams at 40/1.

For the home side, Courtney Baker-Richardson is an 8/1 shot to strike first, with Bobby Kamwa 17/2.

David Ajiboye is 9/1 while Cameron Antwi, who hit the opener in Saturday's 3-0 win at Crewe Alexandra, is 22/1. Outsiders for the first goal in the Newport ranks include the former Barrow man Anthony Driscoll-Glennon at odds of 33/1.

Carlisle, yet to win in nine attempts at Rodney Parade, are 17/2 for a 2-1 victory tonight while a 1-0 away win is 15/2.

United's last trip to face Newport was a 1-1 draw in September 2022 and a repeat of that scoreline is 11/2.

Back-to-back 2-1 away defeats for the Cumbrians has a price of 10/1 while Newport are 14/1 for a 2-0 victory.
