Ruben Amorim is confident that Patrick Dorgu is ready to make an impact at Manchester United after handing him his debut against Leicester City.

The Dane was recruited from Italian side Lecce just under a week ago and has been thrown straight into the starting XI for tonight's tussle with the Foxes. He is expected to start at left wing-back.

United were determined to strengthen their left-sided options throughout the January transfer window and Dorgu, 20, was identified as a suitable fit for Amorim's wing-back system.

After being unveiled to United's supporters ahead of last Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford alongside fellow new recruit Ayden Heaven, who is on the bench this evening, Dorgu is ready to make his United debut.

"He did very well," Amorim told MUTV, reflecting on Dorgu's first week of training. "He has pace, he has the ability to play on both sides, he has great characteristics that can help us, especially in the way that we play the game.

"All of them have to be prepared, so he is ready to play. Of course, he is going to be a little bit anxious - this is a massive club - but we are going to help him and we believe a lot in him."

Amorim has also included young goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk on the bench for the first time this evening in the absence of Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton, who are both missing through injury. It means the 21-year-old will be required to support Andre Onana.

On the youngster's inclusion in the squad, Amorim added: "We have some injuries in that position, but this is the moment that we need to use our players from our academy. They need to be ready to cope with the demand of the club."
