I’m training for a half-marathon, and these Brooks sneakers — 30% off — help prevent foot pain - chof 360 news

I didn't always love running. Back in high school, even pounding the pavement just one mile for my gym class final made me feel anxious. But as an adult, I grew to enjoy running through new neighborhoods, beating my own personal records. And let's face it: It's a lot cheaper to go outside than to join a gym. Now, I'm training for my second half-marathon! But the one part I still don't like about running is the occasional foot, ankle and knee pain. I tend to overpronate, which means my foot rolls in as I walk and run. And that's why I'm happy I found the Brooks Adrenaline sneakers. They have the brand's proprietary "GuideRails" that help keep my foot in a neutral place to better support my ankles. And I'm about to stock up: They're 30% off at Amazon.

The supportive sneakers come in a wide range of colors. I went with this pink shade, but there's also classic black and white, or bolder hues like hot pink or aqua.

Why is this a good deal? ????

A good pair of running shoes can support your feet and ankles, provide a good sense of cushion without weighing you down and help propel you forward — but they're generally going to cost you upwards of $150. The Brooks Adrenaline GTS usually rings in at $140, but at 30% off, they're down to $100. For this quality, that's a great deal! It's an even better deal considering it could save you a trip to the podiatrist.

Why do I need these? ????

Not only are these Amazon's No. 1 bestselling running shoes, but the pros like them too. Professional marathon runners like Desiree Linden (the 2018 Boston Marathon winner) and Josh Kerr (the bronze medalist in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics men's 1500m race) wear Brooks shoes. So it's fair to say the brand makes really good running sneaks.

The Adrenaline GTS 23 shoes offer support and cushioning for a smoother, softer run. Their snazzy GuideRails keep extra movement in check and prevent ankle and knee injuries.

Just so you know, the GTS 23 is not the newest iteration of the shoe — the brand released the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 24 in November 2024, and that style is slightly lighter and a little more breathable. That's why the GTS 23 is on sale, though, and personally, I still think it's a fantastic shoe.

What reviewers say ????

I'm not the only fan! More than 4,300 Amazon shoppers give them a five out of five-star rating.

Pros ????

"Amazing quality sneakers!" said one fan. "I've always been a Nike girl, but these shoes have truly changed the game. They are light and comfortable enough to enjoy a nice run but also very sturdy and supportive for weight training."

"Despite feet, neck, back and hip issues, when I am on my feet all day in these, my feet do not hurt and I am in less pain than other shoes," said a Brooks aficionado, who wears them every day. "This is my third pair of Brooks. Runs true to size for me. They still look brand new after wearing them daily (although all black) and I'm sure they will last me a long time like my last pair did."

For those with foot problems, multiple shoppers report relief. "I've had bad plantar fasciitis and saw these shoes recommended through various Internet grapevines. All of my other shoes have inserts, but these shoes don't need them — they have plenty of support and a broad sole for good stability!" shared a buyer. "All in all, a great shoe so far! I also like that they are available in different widths for maximum foot comfort. Also, they're super cute!"

Healthcare workers like them too. "This shoe has been the best! I love the support and all-day comfort," said one. "I'm on my feet a lot walking around the hospital, and my feet used to always ache and hurt so bad. I have plantar fasciitis that is so severe in the mornings, but since I have had these shoes, my feet no longer ache!"

Cons ????

One common complaint? The laces.

"Love these shoes... The only reason I subtracted a star is because of the shoelaces," said a four-star reviewer. "It's ridiculous to have to double knot to keep the laces from untying and creating a tripping hazard. Go ahead and purchase additional cotton-based laces that will stay tied."

"I love Brooks. My only complaint is the laces are awful," added another. "If you don’t double knot them, you are going to be tying your shoelaces every 100 steps. I will likely replace the laces because these flat ones are terrible. Otherwise superior quality as always."
