John McGinn has praised Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio’s work ethic since joining Aston Villa last month.

The loanees have both made impressive starts to life at Villa having joined at the end of the winter window, before Axel Disasi became the fifth addition and third loan signing.

Before they joined, Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia were signed for around £26m combined, but were left out of the Champions League squad as Villa could only register three new players.

Rashford has featured six times so far, and since his debut on February 9, he has created more chances in all competitions than any other Premier League player (13).

Asensio, meanwhile, has scored braces in successive home matches against Chelsea and then Cardiff City in the FA Cup last time out.

“They come with a huge reputation,” McGinn said. “They are hungry and want to succeed, they work hard and that’s all you want as a teammate.

“There are no big egos. We haven’t seen that yet if there is. They have both fitted in well, Marco had a couple of goals at the weekend.

“I’m hoping one of them falls to the feet of Rashford so he can get off the mark. Obviously they are two brilliant players and delighted they are here.”

Rashford, Asensio and Disasi could all feature in the Champions League for the first time as Villa players on Tuesday night when Club Brugge host the first leg of the round of 16 tie.
