Jay Rodriguez’s second spell at Burnley has come to an end after the striker completed a permanent move to Wrexham.
Rodriguez made more than 300 appearances for the Clarets after progressing through the Academy ranks and bursting onto the scene with a memorable goal against Fulham in 2008.
The 35-year-old went on to score 76 times for his hometown club and is regarded as a club legend.
Rodriguez’s first spell at Turf Moor ended in 2012 and he went on to have spells at Southampton and West Brom, even earning a cap for England on the international stage.
Sean Dyche brought the striker back to East Lancashire in 2019 and he went on to make more happy memories.
"Playing for the town I was born and brought up in was always my dream,” Rodriguez told the club site. “To have the honour of doing that over 300 times has been something else.
“I have loved every minute of my time at Burnley and this has been a tough decision for me to make, but there will forever be a special place in my heart for the football club and the town I have always called home."
He played 22 times for Burnley this season, getting on the scoresheet in the wins against Swansea and Stoke.
“Jay is the ultimate professional and has given me and this club absolutely everything,” head coach Scott Parker added.
“He is someone everyone at Burnley Football Club is extremely proud of and we wish him all the very best at Wrexham. It goes without saying, Jay will always be more than welcome at Turf Moor.”
The forward now heads to Wrexham as Phil Parkinson’s side battle for promotion to the Championship.
The Red Dragons currently sit third in the table, six points off the top two, as they aim to build on back-to-back promotions from the National League.
“I’m made up to join the club,” said Rodriguez. “I can’t wait to get out on the training pitch and meet everyone.
“I hope I can use my experience to help every single player in the squad and gain something from the group as well. To join the story that has evolved at Wrexham with clear targets is exciting for me.”
