Ange Postecoglou says Dominic Solanke, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are “tracking really well”, but says the Tottenham trio face a race against time to be fit for the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie against AZ Alkmaar.

Solanke has been out for more than a month with a knee injury, while Van de Ven and Romero have been struggling with longer-term issues.

Providing the latest Spurs team news ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Manchester City, Postecoglou said: “The good news is everyone came through the [Ipswich] game really well. It will probably be a similar squad for tomorrow. We were hoping Ben [Davies] maybe for this game but he won’t make it.

“The other lads are all tracking really well. All sort of similar times, the next seven to 10 days. A couple of them are already training but over that period we will start incorporating them back into matchday squads.”

Asked whether Solanke, Van de Ven and Romero could be fit for he first leg against AZ Alkmaar on March 6, Postecoglou said: “Yeah potentially. I’m not sure they will participate in that.

“The idea is a couple of them should be back training and available for that game, obviously they have to back that up over the [following] weekend against Bournemouth.

“With two games, I’m hoping we can get a couple back we can tackle those two games.”
