New Daisy Hill chairman, Aaron Hunt is hoping to help build the club

Daisy Hill have announced the appointment of Aaron Hunt as club chairman.

Bolton native Hunt is well known to many thousands of social media followers as a football content creator, You Tuber and Twitch streamer.

His TikTok account @aaronhunt282 has more than 400,000 followers, and he has in excess of 100,000 followers on his Instagram page @aaronhuntt28.

He also streams on Twitch under @aaronhuntoooofs, and shares longer videos on YouTube under @Aaronhunt28, where he has more than 17,000 subscribers.

Hunt shares content on a range of subjects on social media, and will be taking an active role in promoting the club through his established channels.

He first came to the attention of the club when he started playing under the name Daisy Hill FC on Football Manager, and as Daisy vice-chairman Colin Higson explained, the story unfolded from there.

“Our social media manager, Alex George, noticed that Aaron had adopted the Daisy Hill name on Football Manager, and got in touch with him to invite him down to a game,” said Higson.

“As it turned out, Aaron had commitments on the days of the next few games, so instead, our manager Lee Hill invited him to come down and meet the players at one of their training sessions at the end of January.

“Alongside that, the club has had some recent problems with funding ongoing maintenance at the ground, with repairs needed to floodlights, and work required on the pitch.

“With that in mind, Lee spoke to Aaron about the possibility of him getting involved in helping the club, and from there, the club committee arranged a meeting with Aaron to find out how he felt he could help us.

“After meeting him, we all agreed that there were massive potential benefits in getting Aaron on board at the club.

“The upsurge in interest in the club since the announcement last week has been amazing, and in the space of a week a Go Fund Me campaign that Aaron launched, to help raise money for pitch maintenance over the summer, has already reached the £2,500 mark.

“There is a lot of work to do to get the club to where we all believe it could be, and Aaron will play a key part in that process.

“It’s an exciting time for the club, and we are all looking forward to working with him in the months ahead.”

Speaking about his appointment, Hunt said: “I’m buzzing to take this project on and appreciate all the support given so far.

“I’ll be learning on the job every day and it isn’t going to happen overnight, but I really think this football club has potential to go far.

“Lots of sponsorship opportunities will be available, as well as help needed with certain aspects of the work.

“I would love to give everyone the opportunity to get involved with this project in any way possible.

“I will be vlogging the entire process of taking over the club, and pushing them in the right direction, and documenting it across my social media platforms.

“The club has a real community feel to it and we would love anybody to come down to the games and get involved. Join us on our journey and let’s take the club as far as we can.”
