Manchester United fans will be sick of reading about PSR and how it is set to impact how much work Ruben Amorim can do to his squad in the summer.

After only signing Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven in January, opting against bringing in a new striker, the Red Devils are expected to look at adding reinforcements to their team at the end of the season.

However, PSR is set to play a huge role with United’s transfer business with players expected to be sold to bring in new players.

Here, MEN Sport brings you an update on Quenda and a boost in PSR…

Personal terms 'agreed'

Man United's long-term pursuit of Sporting CP star Geovany Quenda has received a boost with reports suggesting the teenager has agreed personal terms.

According to " target="_blank" class="link"> Ben Jacobs, Quenda has verbally agreed terms with United over a move in the summer. He's been reportedly identified as one of Amorim's priority signings for the summer after being handed a first-team opportunity by the Portuguese this season.

It'll be a deal United will be desperate to get over the line earlier in the window to give him a full pre-season.

MEN Sport says: "A deal we all can see happening for so many reasons. As MEN revealed in November last year, United have already met with Quenda's agent having started tracking the player following his debut for Sporting in August.

"Amorim said he wouldn't raid Sporting in January and he stayed true to his word, but the summer will be a different story and United are still open to signing the youngster. Something that United have been criticised for getting wrong in the past, most recently with Patrick Dorgu, has been dragging deals and leaving it late. With Quenda, it seems, they are not making that same mistake."

PSR deadline boost

On the subject of the summer transfer window, United are reportedly not at risk of breaching the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules (PSR) this summer due to their quiet January business.

The club have drifted dangerously close to the FFP rules with it widely expected that they will have to sell players to improve Amorim's side. But according to i Paper, sales won't have to be made before the June 30 'soft' transfer deadline to comply with PSR.

However, the transfer budget is still set to be tight with some reports insisting Amorim could have around £20m to £30m to spend.

MEN Sport says: "It's not news that United will be forced to work with their hands tied this summer but there are positives around the fact they'll avoid having to rush about at the end of the season to raise funds.

"Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Newcastle were all involved in deals that were sanctioned to ensure they all complied with the rules. It meant some had to accept losses on players they probably wouldn't have if it weren't for PSR.

"Avoiding this means focus will be on the next accounting period which starts at the start of July. However, United's small budget means PSR is going to continue to be a bugbear for all involved."
